Position Description
Henry County Youth Center
Position: Part-Time Youth Care Worker
Department: Henry County Youth Center
Incumbent serves as a Youth Care Worker in the secure/non-secure sections of the Henry County Youth Center, and when assigned, as a support transport officer. In such capacity, incumbent is responsible for monitoring and supervising the behavior and activities as assigned juvenile residents. Incumbent will assist, if necessary, in transporting residents to court hearings, medical appointments, activities and other scheduled appointments within the community and when appropriate, to and from their sending communities. Incumbent assist, as assigned, in maintaining all transportation vehicles. Incumbent provides direct care and supervision of residents, and assists in other supportive responsibilities related to operation of the facility when requested.
Position: Part-Time Cook
Department: Henry County Youth Center
Incumbent serves as a Part-time Cook at the Henry County Youth Center and is responsible for preparing and serving meals for juvenile residents and staff members. Assures that food flavor, texture, appearance and palatability are taken into account in preparation of daily meals and completes related documents and checklists on a daily basis and makes preparations for next day's operation as required. Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen equipment and facilities including without limitation, steam tables, cabinets, grills, stoves, fryers, coolers and refrigerators. Performs dishwashing and cleaning of the kitchen, food preparation and dining areas as required. Maintains security of kitchen cutlery and tools/utensils and monitors kitchen stock and inventory. Receives, inspects and unpacks shipments and deliveries for storage, refrigeration and freezing. In so doing, follows rescribed inventory procedures for issurance of food from storage. All applicants must be 21, have a drivers license and High school diploma/GED. Knowledge of standard cooking in quantity and food service practices as required for Center's operations with the ability to apply appropriate precedures to routine and recurring assignments accordingly. Knowledge of cooking principles, procedures and measurement requirements. Ability to read and follow written and/or verbal instructions and recipe directions and, in doing so, perform duties under minimal supervision. Incumbent lifts objects of moderate to heaving weight and performs some functions that require bending, stooping and stretching. Although prolonged or intense physical effort for long periods ot time. In performing majority of duties in kitchen, food prepartion, storage and dining environments, incumbent is exposed to high temperatures, grease, sharp utensils, and cleaning substances.
